Big I Minnesota (Big I MN) is a non-profit state trade association for Independent Insurance Agents throughout Minnesota. Big I MN affiliates with National Big I (Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America, Inc.). We are dedicated to fostering the independent insurance agency channel through legislative advocacy, education, and tools to help grow your agency. Big I MN also offers exclusive access to E&O and Cyber Security carriers to protect our member agencies. Our portfolio includes 300+ agencies with 700+ storefronts and more than 4,900+ independent agents in Minnesota.

What are Big I MN's core functions?
At Big I MN we believe the Independent Insurance Agent Distribution Channel is the best place for consumers to purchase their insurance. With that in mind, we strive to provide our members throughout Minnesota the necessary resources to grow their agency. We provide professional development, talent development, advocacy at both a state and national level, market access, E&O insurance as well as a whole host of other tools that foster agency growth.
Will being a member of Big I MN help me grow my business?
Yes, Big I MN provides a tremendous amount of resources to our members. We have over 300 agencies that use Big I MN for a whole host of products. We have an exclusive market access program through IIABA. Our E&O program gives members access to the best policy available at member pricing to protect their agency and provide risk management resources. We also provide tools to grow your business, including but not limited to the ability to take credit cards from your clients, electronic signature options, and many others.
What do member agencies look like?
We have over 300 member agencies with over 700 storefronts throughout the state of Minnesota. We have many one or two person agencies that might focus on personal lines or commercial lines exclusively, and agencies with 200+ employees that provide a whole host of risk management tools for their clients. As an organization, we recognize all the different challenges that our members of all sizes have and try to meet as many of those as possible.
Does being a member of Big I MN allow me any networking opportunities?
Absolutely! Throughout the year we put on many different events to encourage networking. Our largest event is our Annual Convention and EXPO that takes place in the Spring. We also have several golf outings hosted by different regions of our state in the summer, as well as other sport events and/or happy hours throughout the year. Throughout the year we also have over 25 committee meetings that foster collaboration of independent insurance agents.
What does Big I MN do for their industry as a whole?
Each and every day Big I MN strives to make the insurance industry a bit better. We help elevate our members to allow them to serve the consuming public in the most professional manner possible. Big I MN has taken a leading role in bringing in the next generation of insurance professionals by promoting the industry to colleges and universities throughout the state. Big I MN has numerous committees that help foster a better environment throughout the industry. We have an Emerging Leaders Committee that is growing and learning through education and networking. We have a Legislative Advisory Committee that takes an active role in all things related to legislation and the MN Department of Commerce in cooperation with our state lobbyist.
