Reflecting on a Year of Progress and Gratitude: My Journey as President of MN Big I
What an incredible year it has been. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have served as the President of the MN Big I. The dedication and hard work of the Big I team, along with the agents who serve on various committees, have been nothing short of inspiring. As we continue to face challenges head-on, I’m more confident than ever that the MN Big I is well-positioned to support independent agents, as well as the carriers and customers they serve.
A large part of what we offer at the Big I is education, and that education goes beyond just providing top-tier continuing education. It spans all areas of our industry. Robyn Rowan, our lobbyist, has played a crucial role in strengthening our relationships with the Department of Commerce (DOC) and the legislature. This has given us the opportunity to educate them on key issues that directly impact our industry. From the storm chaser bill to the recent low-cost auto bill, the team has worked tirelessly to protect the insurance market. We’ve also focused on expanding continuing education efforts, building on the success of the Boot Camp training program for professionals new to the industry.
However, the most important education is for our consumers. The Big I has invested in PR training to ensure that we effectively communicate our story through the right channels, educating as many people as possible on the current state of the insurance market and why these issues matter.
Serving as the President of the Big I is something I will always cherish. It’s been an honor to be part of this board and to serve all of you. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated team at the Big I, and I am excited for Jean Sundlof to take the helm as the next President. Jean is a talented insurance professional who will do an outstanding job. Thank you for the privilege of allowing me to serve.
