As I prepare to pass the Presidency to Grant Wilson, I have one more opportunity to highlight the amazing work of your association.

Our legislative committee works diligently to support our lobbyist, Robyn Rowen. I served as Big I MN’s representative on the Task Force on Homeowners and Commercial Property Insurance. Also representing our industry were Aaron Cocking (Insurance Federation of MN), Adam Axvig (MN Association of Farm Mutual Insurance Companies), and Anna Midgley of Western National (Insurance Federation of MN). We were pleased to defeat some recommendations that would have hurt both the industry and consumers in the long run. Robyn and the committee have an uphill battle getting any legislation through this session, but they are making sure our voice is heard.
One key lesson I gained from the Task Force is that public education is vital. Our industry is both complex and often misunderstood, which is why we’re committed to growing our PR efforts. Have you recently assisted a customer? If so, please record a brief video describing your accomplishments. Our PR specialist will gather these videos into a presentation for the public. Additionally, you’ll be able to feature the video on your website or use it in your marketing materials.
The calendar has been jam-packed with events to serve our members. Amy Rau, our Director of Membership and Education is working closely with the Education Committee to tailor our offerings to your needs. Michelle Herr, our COO, continues to develop more women-focused programs. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who has contributed to making this year an exceptional experience.
