It has been a very busy first two quarters of the year at the Big I Minnesota. There have been countless hours of conversation about the hard market, legislative updates, and continued progress made to support the independent insurance agency.

As insurance agents, we have obligations to both the insured and the insurer. We are all feeling the pressure from the carriers to get them back to profitability. We are equally exhausted from giving bad news to consumers. There is an opportunity for us to reset the thought that insurance is a commodity. With so many changes to terms and conditions, the role as independent agents has never been more important. The Big I has recently engaged with a PR firm to help with public outreach and give us the opportunity to appropriately educate consumers on a broader level.

I would like to thank Robyn Rowen and the legislative committee for all their efforts. The work that they do, and accomplishments would not happen without the fundraising and contributions made to InsurPac and MIIA Pac. There were great things that came out of the last session. We will continue to fundraise, plan and be thankful we have Robyn on our team to help us navigate the world of politics.

The Big I MN has done a great job of continuing to add services and programs. On October 3rd, the Big I MN will have its inaugural LeadHERship Summit. This series offers inspiring stories of women in agency leadership, promotes equity for women, and fosters connections to expand professional networks across various agencies. The first few sessions of Insurance Boot Camp classes have exceeded our expectations. These classes provide industry insights and training for newly hired and new-to-insurance individuals.

As we navigate what feels like storm season rather than just summer, I hope everyone has found time to visit their cabins, golf, swim, grill, and enjoy moments with their families. Amid the busyness of this time of year, it’s important for us all to pause and appreciate the things that matter most.

Support Your PACs

Two PACs. Two Reasons.

Big I Minnesota members are called upon to invest in their future by contributing to two funds, one for Minnesota state and one for federal action. Each serves a specific purpose. When you donate to one or both of our political action committees, you know you’re helping support the very people who are working to ensure your ease of doing business.
